Accessibility Statement

Our goal

Light Sound Colors exists so people can make music any way they can move. We aim to make the website and the browser instrument usable by people with a wide range of disabilities. That is the product's reason for being, not a compliance afterthought.

Target and current status

Target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Current status: working toward the target, not yet audited for conformance. A formal conformance audit (automated plus manual keyboard, screen-reader, zoom, and contrast testing) has not been completed, so we do not claim conformance. Our automated release checks cover parts of the picture (labels, focus order in the safety dialog, target behavior); the full audit is on the roadmap, and this page will state the results, including failures, when it runs.

Accessibility features that ship today

Play by touch, mouse, keyboard, switch (Space/Enter), head movement, eye movement, or any visible motion through an ordinary webcam.
Hands-free pointer with adjustable dwell timing (0.5–1.5 s), blink to pause, eyebrow raise to recenter, and a guided gaze calibration.
Accessible Play: a calm instrument designed without flashing effects, with large pads, switch scanning, and three play modes.
The full Studio respects the system reduce-motion setting and includes a Calm mode that keeps strobes and the brightest flashes off.
A blocking health & safety notice that works by keyboard, dwell (gaze), and screen reader, shown before play every time the Studio opens.
Hearing-safety defaults: volume starts at 30%, a warning appears above 60%, and a saved level above 60% is never restored silently.

Flashing content

The full Creative Studio contains moving and flashing effects by artistic design. A blocking photosensitivity notice precedes first play, a safety link stays on screen during play, and an engineering clamp limits flicker rates in the visual engine. Accessible Play is the option designed without flashing effects. We screen visuals against WCAG 2.3.1-style luminance thresholds with an automated harness as part of each release; that screening is an engineering control, not a certification, and its current results are recorded in our release evidence.

Known limitations

No formal WCAG 2.2 AA audit or VPAT/ACR has been completed yet. If your procurement process requires one, email us and we will prioritize it.
The Studio is a rich canvas instrument; screen-reader users get full access to controls and dialogs, but the visual canvas itself is a non-text experience by nature.
Eye control depends on lighting and camera quality; the app falls back to Any-motion play when tracking is unavailable.

Assessment method

Self-assessment with automated release checks (labels, dialog focus behavior, reduced-motion handling, luminance screening) plus manual testing with keyboard, touch, dwell/gaze, and switch input. Formal third-party assessment: not yet performed.
