Why it works on school devices
- Runs in the browser. No installation required, no admin rights, and no student account required for play.
- Works on locked-down laptops, tablets, and phones with a front camera.
- Camera and microphone are processed on the device and never uploaded, and no photo or camera image is ever stored. The one thing a student can deliberately save is a Rec clip of the on-screen visuals and sound, and it stays on that device. Privacy policy.
- Classroom and professional use is expressly permitted in the terms.
Ways your students can play
- Touch or mouse: 18 live-synthesized instrument voices plus drums.
- Switch: a full-screen switch target, plus scanning on the play board.
- Head or eyes: an ordinary webcam is enough. No special hardware.
- Any motion: whole-body movement makes music, great for group play.
Accessible Play
Accessible Play is the calmer instrument, the one most special-education teachers and support staff reach for:
- Designed without flashing effects.
- Three levels: cause-and-effect, targets, and make-music.
- Big press pads (6, 9, or 12), or a plain touch-anywhere surface.
- Helper setup with dwell speed, sensitivity, volume, and feel: reachable mid-session with the ⚙️ button, so you never leave play to adjust.
- Leaving play needs a deliberate hold on the 🏠 button, so a stray tap never ends a session.
Start in five steps
- Open lightsoundcolors.com/studio on the student's device.
- Pick what to play: Live Play, Beats, or Listen. Switch scanning lives in Accessible Play, the fourth card.
- Pick how to play: Touch Play, or Wireless Play with hands, head, eyes, or any motion. Want less on screen? Accessible Play has the levels: 1 is the basics, Live Play and Listen only, and 3 is everything.
- Allow the camera if using a hands-free input. It stays on the device.
- Play. Settings are under ⚙️ any time, without leaving the session.
The core instrument is free, with no time limits and no student account required. The optional $20 Pro unlock adds extra visuals, voices, and themes; an adult purchaser unlocks it with the key from the purchase email, on up to 5 devices; it is never required for accessibility features.
