Light Sound Colors is an accessible browser-based music and visual instrument used for cause-and-effect play, music-making, and sensory-friendly creative activities. This page answers the questions district privacy, IT, and purchasing teams ask, in order.

Student data, COPPA, and FERPA
Light Sound Colors is designed so that there is no student data to protect. It has no accounts, no rosters, no logins, no uploads, and it collects no personal information from any user, including children under 13. Because no education records and no student personal information are created, received, or stored by the product, the usual COPPA and FERPA conversations are short: there is nothing collected to consent to, disclose, or delete.

These statements describe how the product works and can be verified against the privacy policy and the product itself. They are factual descriptions, not third-party certifications.
Camera and microphone processing
- Both are off by default and only activate if a user grants the browser permission.
- Camera input powers motion play and the hands-free head and eye pointer. Processing (Google MediaPipe) is bundled with the app and runs on the device. No video, frames, or images are recorded, stored, or transmitted.
- Microphone input powers sound-reactive visuals. Audio is analyzed live on the device and never recorded or uploaded.
- Touch and mouse play work fully without camera or microphone. On managed devices where camera permissions are locked down, the instrument still works by touch.
For IT: network behavior
- One domain to allow: lightsoundcolors.com. The app makes no third-party requests while playing; its security policy restricts connections to its own origin.
- Runs in the browser with no install, no extension, and no admin rights.
- Once loaded, play is processed locally on the device.
Accessibility features
- Plays by touch, mouse, switch, head movement, eye movement, or any visible motion.
- Accessible Play: a calm instrument with no flashing, large pads, switch scanning, three skill levels, and cause-and-effect, target, and music-making activities.
- Hands-free pointer with adjustable dwell timing (half a second to 1.5 seconds), blink to pause, and eyebrow raise to recenter.
- Respects the system reduce-motion setting and includes a Calm mode that keeps the brightest flashes off in the full Studio.
- A helper guide walks staff through setup in three steps.
VPAT status: a formal VPAT has not been produced yet. The statements above describe shipped, testable features. If your procurement process requires a VPAT or a formal accessibility conformance report, email us and we will prioritize it.
Safety: the full Creative Studio contains flashing and fast-moving visuals and shows a seizure notice before play; Accessible Play is the no-flash option designed for sensory-sensitive students. Full details in the health and safety notice.

Purchasing
- The free version is free for classroom, therapy-practice, recreation-program, and nonprofit use on devices you control. That is written into the terms, not a promotion.
- The optional Pro unlock ($12, one time) adds more visuals, instrument voices, journeys, and themes. One unlock code verifies on up to 5 devices.
- Card purchases run through Gumroad. Districts that need an invoice, purchase order, or W-9: email us and we will work with your purchasing process.
Pilot programs
We are recruiting a small number of pilot classrooms, therapy practices, and after-school programs. Pilots get direct support from the developer and help shape the roadmap; we ask only for honest feedback on what worked and what did not. Email omer@halalhelper.com with "Pilot" in the subject.
Quick FAQ
Is any student data collected, stored, or shared?
No. There are no accounts and no data collection from any user. The only data the product ever stores is a handful of device-local preferences (like volume and dwell speed) that never leave the device.
Does it work offline?
The website needs a connection to load; after loading, play is processed locally on the device. The packaged Android version works fully offline.
